It functions when the sounds travels from this aid through the ear mold in to the ear. People of all ages for mild to profound hearing loss are used BTE hearing aids. However, fitting BTE ear mold may cause feedback, a whistle sound caused by the fit of the hearing aids or by buildup of earwax or fluid.

ITE hearing aids can accommodate added technical mechanism such as a telecoil, a small magnetic coil contained in the hearing aids that improves sound transmission during telephone calls.

3) In-the-Canal (ITC) hearing aids can be used for mild to moderately/ severe hearing loss. It is small one piece hearing aids. It fits outside the ear canal and the components contained in a custom-fit, hard-molded plastic shell. Besides that, it slightly visible in the ear.
